The Cabinet Office list of national holidays for 2027 gives 3 November as Culture Day. The holiday is held on the same date every year.
The Order of Culture is presented at the Imperial Palace, where the emperor hands the honour to people recognised for major contributions to culture, the arts and science, according to Nippon.com.
Around the holiday the government, local authorities and private groups hold art festivals, concerts and exhibitions, and many museums and galleries run special events or offer free admission.
