The market has been held at Odori Park since 2002, when Sapporo marked 30 years of sister city ties with Munich. It sells Christmas goods, hot wine and German food, with commemorative mugs that change design each year.
Outdoor concerts, indoor workshops and tents with seating are part of the programme. Satellite sites are the Sapporo Television Tower, the underground walkway in front of Sapporo Station and Sapporo Factory.
